Funerals

ALL MEMBERS ARE INSTRUCTED TO ADVISE AND LEAVE INSTRUCTIONS FOR THEIR FAMILY, NEXT OF KIN, EXECUTOR, CONSERVATOR, HEALTH CARE PROXY OR ATTORNEY TO CALL OUR OFFICE FIRST WHEN A FUNERAL MUST BE ARRANGED. OUR TELEPHONES ARE ANSWERED 24 HOURS A DAY, 7 DAYS A WEEK. OUR STAFF WILL IMMEDIATELY HELP TO ARRANGE THE FUNERAL WITH ONE OF OUR PARTICIPATING FUNERAL DIRECTORS. THESE DIRECTORS WILL ASSIST IN PROVIDING OUR BENEFITS AND THERE WILL BE NO ADDITIONAL COST FOR THE BENEFITS WE PROVIDE. AT THEIR CHAPELS, THESE SAME DIRECTORS HAVE VERY COMPETITIVE PRICES FOR MOST ITEMS AND SERVICES THAT WE DO NOT PROVIDE AS OUR STANDARD MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS. THIS MAY ADD DRAMATICALLY TO THE SAVINGS WHEN A FUNERAL IS BEING ARRANGED OR CONTRACTED. WHEN WE ARE CALLED WE WILL HELP ANY PERSON ARRANGING A MEMBER'S FUNERAL TO GET ALL THE BURIAL BENEFITS AS WELL AS ALL THE OTHER DISCOUNTS BEING OFFERED WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF A PARTICIPATING FUNERAL DIRECTOR. OTHER CHAPELS WILL BILL FOR EVERY ITEM IN THE ENTIRE FUNERAL.

Graves as a Membership Benefit and Reserved Graves and Plots


According to the rules and regulations of the United Hebrew Community of New York Regular Members are entitled to the grave free as a membership benefit. Families of a deceased regular family member may choose one of five cemeteries for the interment of the member or for any person covered under the membership:


(1) ACACIA CEMETERY, Ozone Park, (Queens) N.Y.

(2) BETH MOSES CEMETERY, Pinelawn, N.Y.

(3) MT. MORIAH CEMETERY, Fairview, N.J.

(4) UNITED HEBREW CEMETERY, Staten Island, N.Y.

(5) WELLWOOD CEMETERY, Pinelawn, N.Y.

Other cemeteries may be available by reservation only: Beth David in Elmont, N.Y. ~ Beth El in Westwood, N.J. ~ Cedar Park in Westwood, N.J. ~ Linden Hill in Queens, N.Y. ~ Montefiore in Queens, N.Y. ~ Mt. Hebron in Flushing, N.Y. ~ Mt. Lebanon in Ridgewood, N.Y. ~ Mt. Zion in Maspeth, N.Y. ~ New Montefiore in Pinelawn, N.Y.


All Life Members receive a reservation of a specific grave at the time of enrollment as a membership benefit.


All Member may reserve one or more graves, or a private plot for their family at any of our cemeteries according the rules of the organization.

Annual Concert


Each year since 1902, the United Hebrew Community of New York invites all members to attend a free Jewish concert. It has been acknowledged as New York's greatest free annual Jewish musical show. In 2010 it will be held on June 13th at the Gershwin Theater of Brooklyn College. LIMITED seating is on a first come basis. Members are encouraged to bring family and friends. Everyone else who enjoys both classical and contemporary Jewish music is also invited to join us. The doors open at 1:45 p.m. and the two hour concert begins promptly at 2:00 p.m.
